Like all organizations in the United States, Doing Good Works has been affected by the COVID-19-related stay at home orders and economic slowdown. Although the changes have significantly disrupted our business, Doing Good Works has had the privilege and unique opportunity to pivot our promotional products business and step in as a distributor of critical personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical professionals across the country.
Director of Customer Experience, Logan Altman, shares, “Not only has it been a shift that we’ve made to keep the business going, but we have also been able to give medical workers access to these live-saving PPEs to bridge the gap between what is locally available and the national shortages.” To date, we have supplied health care providers across the country with millions of FDA-approved face masks, and we are continuing to focus on PPE distribution throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pivoting from promotional products to PPEs required the Doing Good Works team to quickly become knowledgeable on FDA-approved equipment including KN95 and isolation masks, isolation gowns, gloves, and hand sanitizer. Logan shares, “We have been able to step in as a liaison between our medical clients and PPE production centers, which allowed us to make this quick transition as a business.”
Since mid-March, we have provided face masks and PPE to medical groups across the country. Doing Good Works has also donated 500 face masks to staff at Children’s Institute, a Los Angeles-based organization that serves children who are exposed to poverty and adversity, and 450 face masks to Templo Calvario Community Development Corporation, an organization in Santa Ana, CA that connects the local community to financial, parenting, and educational resources.
Although we plan to return to our roots selling print and promotional materials to change outcomes for former foster youth after the pandemic is behind us, the Doing Good Works team is grateful for the opportunity to further our mission of improving lives and connecting communities by extending our reach to medical workers during COVID-19.
We are grateful for the front-line medical workers who are putting their lives on the line each day to keep our communities healthy. We honor their courage, bravery, and heroism, today and every day, as they make the world a safer, healthier place.
